I came across the poem ‘Smiling Is Infectious’ in a coffee shop in Yorkshire, England. And just had to include it in a post.

It was written on a chalk board on the wall and was put there by one of the waitresses who just loved the idea of adding different quotes and poems to the board on a regular basis just to lift the spirits of the customers. I took a photograph for my collection as it lifted my day.

My research says that the author is unknown although many people have claimed ownership, so to whoever penned it – thank you!

But the main reason I have added it to the site is because I believe that smiling is just another habit that each and every one of us could adopt on a daily basis if we wanted to. So go on let’s start an epidemic…

Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I’d passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,
don’t leave it undetected.
Let’s start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!
