It amazes me how many people I meet who are in the habit of blaming others for their own situation in life.

I know it is something I have been guilty of in the past. But no longer.

Are you in the habit of blaming others for your situation in life?

Why do we do it?

Is it because it is easier to put that load on someone else’s shoulder?

Then we can sleep easier with the ‘knowledge’ that there is absolutely nothing you can do to change things yourself as it’s all those other factors and people out there who you have no control over that are causing your problems.

So why should you change?

You should change because if you don’t you are not in control of your own life. Other people and other things are controlling you.

I’m sure, in the past you’ve been able to find plenty of individuals and things ‘to make use of’ when you need someone or something to gripe about and shift the blame.

Let’s just think of a few of them.

It could be your parents and your upbringing. Or it could be your partner in life. Or any other family member for that matter.

It could be a friend, a work colleague or business partner.

Or you can move onto the greater world. The politicians, world economy, the banks.

Or it may just be the weather that’s at fault. Any port in a storm (sorry for the pun – it was intended).

The whole issue of people blaming others has reached a new level when you read of claims against tobacco companies by individuals who are suffering health problems caused by smoking.

Or blame food companies because they’ve produced food that has caused someone to become obese.

Come on where is this all going to?

No you can’t continue to blame others for your current situation.

It is my belief that 95%, or more, of what we all do in life is controlled by our habits.

And blaming others is definitely a habit and it’s a bad habit.

But the exciting news is habits can be changed. Because although habits control your life, you actually control your habits.

All you need is a process to change you habits and to make those changes permanent.

It is essential that we all get into the habit of taking responsibility for our own lives and our own situations – right now.

Empower yourself. Stop the habit of blaming others.
